Ocho Rios Jamaica
Ocho Rios Jamaica is located along the northern shore approximately 90 minutes east of Montego Bay. Originally founded as a small fishing village, Ocho Rios is now the 2nd largest tourist center in Jamaica and also has the largest cruise port serving cruiseship passengers. known for its outdoor activities & excursions, Ocho Rios features the most well known waterfall in Jamaica - Dunn's River Falls - with many tourists doing the 600 ft climb to the top of the cascading falls. Bob Marley's birthplace - Village of Nine Mile - attracts Ocho Rios tourists where Bob Marley's house now serves as the Bob Marley Museum. Nearby is Mystic Mountain featuring the Jamaican bobsled ride and zip line attractions. Other popular activities include ATV and horseback riding. Ocho Rios also serves as a golfer's destination with the nearby Sandals Golf & Country Club offering complimentary greens fees and shuttles for Sandals guests. Located approx. 90 minutes from Montego Bay, Negril Jamaica is most known for its west coast sunsets, world-class 7-mile beach, and cliffside diving. Norman Manley Blvd which runs along the coast through the heart of Negril features hotels, restaurants, and shops. Rick's Cafe is probably the most well known establishment with live music and cliff diving. Nearby Royal Palms Reserve and Great Morass Wetlands has showcases the crocodile farm & museum along with over 300 species of wildlife including the national bird Streamtailed Hummingbird and the endangered West Indian Whistling Duck.
Up along the northern shoreline of Negril are the larger resorts including Sandals Negril with 222 rooms & suites and sits on the longest beach stretch of the 7-mile beach. Sandals Negril is often characterized with a laid-back Jamaican atmosphere. Chic & playful, it is a true beachfront resort and the first Sandals to be environmentally certified in 1998. Southern Shore Jamaica
Known as the "Undiscovered Coast", Jamaica's southern shore is much less traveled by tourists. Characterized with a string of small fishing villages, the southern coast remains largely undeveloped. Treasure Beach is a 6-mile stretch of coves and beaches with small local hotels and restaurants. The Town of Black River is a notable 19th Century seaport and today serves as the center for boat tours up the Black River. Sandals Whitehouse currently serves as the only resort within Jamaica's southern shore. Situated on a 500-acre natural preserve, it sits on a 2-mile stretch of pristine private beach.
