Sandals Dunn's River Villaggio is considerd by most the preferred property of the two Sandals Ocho Rios resorts. With tropical gardens and sprawling palms, Dunn's River manifests a natural relaxation within an upbeat environment. Dunn's river features an Italian Piazza theme along with one of the most impressive luxurious lobby areas within the brand featuring elegant winding stairs along with stunning columns. Outdoors, the focus is on its attractive pool with running waterfalls along with the beach backdrop. Considered one of the top Jamaica Sandals resorts, Dunn's River's relatively smaller size yields a more intimate environment while still offering a full range of amenities including superb restaurants.

The two Ocho Rios resorts is the Jamaica destination for golf. The Dunn's River property has a 9-hole par 3 course on property. Down the road is the Sandals Golf & Country Club with a championship 18-hole course. Green fees are complimentary, but caddies are mandatory and additional charge of approx. $18 plus tip (the caddies are not Sandals employees). Carts and club rentals are available for additional charge.

Accommodations are located in a series of 5 and 6 story buildings. The premium room is the butler category Villaggio Honeymoon Oceanfront 1BR Suite which features separate bedroom, two full balconies, Jacuzzi tub, walk-in shower, and fantastic views of the ocean and beach. Similar offering, except oceanview instead of oceanfront, the Tuscan Oceanview 1BR Suite is also a butler category line. Concierge level rooms are the Genoa Honeymoon Penthouse and the Roman Honeymoon rooms. Both offer balconies and whirlpool tubs, but the Tuscan offers superior ocean/beach view while the Genoa offers only partial ocean views. All 4 above room categories include room service. 4 additional standard service room are available with the Florence Grande Luxe featuring an ocean view. The Naples Honeymoon Grande Luxe have garden views and are located in 2-story buildings with ground level rooms having garden views, Venetian Premium and Deluxe rooms both have garden views and are located in the Florence Building with the Venetian Premium rooms have balconies.

On property is a full service Red Lane Spa, fitness center, 2 pools both with swim-up bars, and 3 whirlpools. All the standard Sandals watersports are available including windsurfing which is more unique to this resort. Beyond golf, all standard land sports are represented including tennis, pool tables, table tennis, shuffleboard, and beach volleyball. The resort offers 5 restaurants including the elegant white gloved service Marco Polo restaurant with a Intl gourmet dinner menu. Ristorante Colombo features and extravagant breakfast buffet and a Caribbean cuisine menu at night. IL Capitano is a romantic setting serving Italian dishes. The popular brand Kimonos oriental restaurant has a location at the resort. Pizzerial del Campo serves delicious pizzas and other assorted snacks for lunch. 6 bars and lounges are located on the property. Nightly entertainment includes theme parties, performances, and shows.

Although fairly small, the beach is far superior to the Sandals Grande Ocho Rios beach. However, you will get the attention of the local merchants who mass along the property border and primarily want you to rent their jet skis. Sandals does provide good security and the problem is only moderate in nature but really is unavoidable on this small beach. You should look elsewhere if you require a beach with an absolute no hassle environment.

Like all the Sandals resorts, the guest ages vary across the spectrum and includes its share of honeymooners. Couples come to Sandals Dunn's River for a smaller intimate and attractive setting, luxurious and convenient accommodations, full line of amenities including golf, romantic Italian themed setting with fine dining. The resort is the preferred Ocho Rios Sandals resort for most travelers and among the favorites of the Jamaica Sandals resorts overall.
