Lush gardens and intimate, Sandals Halcyon Beach resort is a favorite of those looking for a simple relaxed vacation. The smallest of the three St Lucia resorts, Halcyon has fewer facilities and is the least expensive. But in return visitors get a stunning tropical setting and very attentive service.
Guests can enjoy unlimited usage of the other two fabulous Sandals St Lucia resorts through exchange privileges and complimentary scheduled shuttle and then return 'home' to the peaceful Halcyon resort. Both the Grande and Regency resorts are larger and usually offer more lively nightlife. An open air roofed gym is located at the edge of the property. Halcyon has very limited spa services but guests do have access to the spas at both the Grande and Regency resorts. Halcyon is actually located in the middle of the three resorts, so shuttle rides are only around 10 minutes to either of the other two resorts.
While the Regency offers the spectacular ocean views and Grande offers the most luxurious rooms, Halcyon offers guests value with simple but still elegant accommodations very close to the beach. The accommodation buildings are a series of small 2-story buildings constructed with local coral rock. All rooms have an outside entrance and either the ground level patio or 2nd floor terrace. All rooms are exactly the same and price differences are based on view type and proximity to the beach. The Halcyon resort does not have any butler service rooms or room service. The top tier room is the Honeymoon Beachfront Concierge Room and sells at a great price value. In addition to concierge service, the top tier room is a 'near beachline' room (separated by a sidewalk and thin line of gardens) and is the closest room to the beach of all the 3 St Lucia resorts. The remaining room categories are non-concierge and are positioned mostly the beachfront row. The deluxe and premium cateogires are in the rear circled around a pool but still relatively close to the beach. The Deluxe rooms are offered at a great value with the only difference from the other categories being it has no ocean or pool view.
The Halcyon resort features four restaurants. The Pier is the signature restaurant featuring fine Caribbean cuisine on an enclosed 150-foot pier overlooking the ocean. Mario's Restaurant is a small elegant indoor Italian option. The Bayside is the main restaurant featuring all meals with option of indoor/outdoor dining. The Beach Bistro is a beachside grill providing lunch time dishes and snacks while overlooking the ocean.
Halcyon features three pools, the main pool with swim-up bar, a second quieter pool with swim-up bar located in the rear of the resort, and a scuba training pool. Although the pools at the Grande and Regency are larger, the Halcyon pools are a very good size and fully up to Sandals standard. The beach a thin strip open ocean beach and all standard Sandals watersports are available. While most guests would consider the beaches at the Grande and Regency superior, the Halcyon's beach compares fairly well and is located in its own attractive tropical setting.
Nightly entertainment including beach parties and various shows are provided but more reserved overall as compared to other Sandals resorts. Although all age groups are well represented along with a fair share of honeymooners, the Halcyon crowd tends to be slightly older on average. Guests come to the Halcyon for a simple quiet tropical lush garden setting, laid-back outdoor relaxation, superior service with fine dining, and to enjoy hearing the wildlife sounds of the night. All this while having full usage of the other two St Lucia resorts along with additional fun excursion options on a magnificent scenic Caribbean island.
