Sandals Regency La Toc has its own unique Sandals character as it is constructed along the St Lucia cliffside. The main portion of the resort which is located at beach level quickly gives way to an ascending coastal elevation resulting in cliffside overlook area known as the 'Bluff'. The amazingly scenic bluff ocean overlooks are where the resort's premium accommodations are located. The resort's varying elevations can result in considerable step climbing depending on accommodation type. Set on a backdrop of steep slopes, potential guests should not assume steps are limited to the bluff area. Very rustic in nature, the resort has the feel of a mountain resort located on the beach. Guests can also enjoy the use of the other 2 St Lucia resorts utilizing exchange privileges and complimentary scheduled shuttle.
Of the 3 St Lucia resorts, Regency has the largest assortment of rooms and suites including the best inventory of top of the line villas with private plunge pools. While booking, attention should be given as rooms vary significantly in terms of location and certain factors can significantly impact overall satisfaction.
The premium scenic bluff suites includes spectacular 2-story private 1BR villa w/pool overlooking the ocean. Sunset 1BR Luxury Villa has both pool/ jacuzzi and features 180 degree view from the bluff. Sunset Honeymoon Oceanfront 1BR Villa 1st floor Suite w/ Pool with remarkable view of both ocean and the main resort down below along with background hills. The bluff area is really a resort within the resort as it includes its own pool area with swim-up bar plus its own restaurant and spa. Certainly, the Regency bluff location and amazing cliffside ocean overlooks is among the premium top line accommodations within the entire sandals brand.
Walking down from the bluff to the main resort area, you pass by the impressive Water's Edge 2-story 1BR suites located on the beachside and the Honeymoon Oceanview 1BR suites jetting up on the inland slope side. A shuttle is provided along this hilly pathway although many choose to make the walk. Kimonos Japanese restaurant, also located on the pathway, provides remarkable ocean views as you dine.
If you prefer to be located down in the main resort area, the premium room is the Honeymoon Grand Luxe Beachfront room and features a full balcony or patio. The lower end room categories are available with varying view types with some room types having a French terrace or patio. Note that a French balcony is simply a sliding door opening up to a terrace fence (you can not walk outside). The one lower end category with a very large terrace is the Luxury Oceanview rooms which are located on the second floors of the Luxury oceanview suites (these 2nd floor rooms involve quite a bit of step climbing as these villas are propped up on the slope side located along the pathway between the main resort area and the bluff). For those visitors wishing to avoid steps, the Soufriere high rise building would be the optimal choice and also provides good ocean views. The ground floor of the Choisuel and Esperance buildings are also a good choice to reduce step climbing. The least expensive deluxe room category are the 2nd floor of the honeymoon villas located in the back of the resort. A minimal upgrade cost gets you into the premium room within the Esperance, the main hotel building.
The Regency has 3 pools with the main pool being the largest pool of the 3 Sandals St Lucia resorts. A second good size pool with a waterfall is located up in the bluff area. A 3rd small quiet pool is located on the ocean next to the Pitons Restaurant. All watersports are provided along with a full service spa and gym. The resort also has a scenic 9-hole golf course behind the resort that meanders up into the hillside. Nightly entertainment includes weekly beach party and assorted shows/performances.
Pavilion Restaurant is the main restaurant serving all meals with an International menu for dinner. La Toc is a small elegant French gourmet cuisine with romantic oceanview setting. Armando's is a full service restaurant serving the bluff area. Kimonos is the popular Japanese restaurant found in several Sandals resorts. Pitons features white glove service Caribbean cuisine. Arizona's is a fun open area Western style grill.
The regency crowd tends to be more adventurous in spirit with ages averaging out on the younger side. Overall the resort is the liveliest of the 3 St Lucia resorts with the Grande a fairly close second. The resort attracts honeymooners at about percentages similar to the Grande. Guests are attracted to the Regency for a wide range of reasons including the superior views, varying accommodation fulfillment including the high demand bluff area, a more natural rustic environment, and a bit more of an authentic St Lucian spirit.
