Sandals Whitehouse is the newest Sandals resort built during 2004 and located in a remote area on Jamaica's southern shore. Stretched over 50 acres, Whitehouse provides ample breathing room, never feels over crowded, and includes a 2 mile stretch of quality beach. A very successful resort, Whitehouse was designed to maximize Sandal's winning formula of quality service, fine dining, luxurious accommodations, and a relaxed romantic atmosphere. The result is very high marks in all categories and Sandals has done well with rates that provide exceptional value on the dollar. Contributing to the resort value, a unique characteristic of Whitehouse is that all rooms/suites are considered beachfront with views of the beach and ocean. Resulting is the fact that Whitehouse has the least expensive beachfront rooms within the Sandals brand.

At the core of the resort is an Italian style plaza theme which includes the restaurants, main pool, watersports area, and serves as the focal point for the nightly entertainment. The main pool has a swim-up bar and serves as the largest pool in Jamaica. A short walk to the beach brings you to the watersports area. Next to the pool and overlooking the ocean is the Grand Piazza which contains 6 restaurants, several bars, and a theater complex. The Bayside is the main restaurant serving buffet breakfast and Intl menu at night. Giuseppe's serves traditional Italian cuisine, Jasmine's is oriental specialties, Eleanor's serves Caribbean cuisine, Arizona Beach Club is a fun outdoor Tex Mex spot, and Café de Paris serves deserts and coffees. A seventh eating option Blue Field Beach Club located in the French Village and serving Jamaican Cuisine during the afternoon hours. The evening entertainment is a mixture parties, shows, and performances centered on the Grand Piazza area or inside at the theater. Rounding out the facilities are a group of tennis courts, basketball court, pool tables, shopping boutiques, modern conference center, scuba center, and one of the finest Sandals spas.

Sandals Whitehouse accommodations are split into 3 areas - Italian, Dutch, and French Villages. Each village contains a cluster of modern 4 story buildings all facing the ocean. All buildings contain elevators and all rooms/suites are outside entrance design. The 3 villages are aligned next to the resort center with the Italian Village being the closest. Next is the Dutch Village which also has its own ocean front pool. The furthest away is the French Village which has its own pool, swim-up bar, and a Jamaican cuisine lunch grill. The French Village is typically the liveliest village but can involve a 10 minute walk to the resort center.

There are 3 room types - standard, suite, and 1br suites. All rooms and suites have a terrace or patio overlooking the ocean. Most terraces/patios are actually half-size and only allow 2 chairs and a small table. Corner units have 2 directional views and are available by request only. 1BR suites have larger balconies. All rooms/suites are luxuriously furnished and include sitting area with couch and table. Suites contain an alcove living room area along with larger bathroom with Jacuzzi tub. The 1br units include a separate bedroom. All rooms have stocked refrigerator with juices, water, and soft drinks. Concierge level rooms/suites include concierge check-in and service along with a fully stocked complimentary in-room bar plus beer added to the refrigerator. The 1BR suites also have Butler and room service. Other factor determining room category is type of view and proximity to the resort center. Deluxe category rooms are the least expensive and located only in the French Village. In general, the higher level categories are located in the upper floors due to the superior views. Specific village location and floor placement requests are honored based on availability.

The travel from Montego Bay to Whitehouse is certainly an experience to remember. The drive is 90 minutes from the north to south shore that travels through the Blue Mountains and heart of Jamaica; traveling through many areas which do not have tourists with the exception of Whitehouse guests; and on a very narrow, bumpy, winding, and sometimes steep road. Most people appreciate the ride not simply for the fine scenery, but to experience and learn more about the Jamaican culture.

Whitehouse is a strong addition to the Sandals brand with high marks in service, dining, accommodations, and amenities. The modern resort serves as a solid beach resort that attracts couples across the age spectrum. A relaxing and entertaining resort but not necessarily the most romantic as the environment can be a bit sterile compared to other destinations. It can have a look and feel of a beachfront condominium complex with an entertainment center. Guests are attracted to Whitehouse for its value packed rates, modern design and facilities, large beachfront accommodations, attractive sprawling beach, seclusion, quality entertainment, large pools, good dining, and spacious resort grounds.
