Lush gardens and intimate, Sandals Halcyon couples-only all-inclusive resort is a favorite of those looking for a simple relaxed vacation. The smallest and quietest of the three St Lucia resorts, Halcyon has fewer facilities and is the least expensive. But in return visitors get a stunning tropical setting and very attentive service. Guests can enjoy unlimited usage of the other two Sandals St Lucia resorts through exchange privileges and complimentary scheduled shuttle and then return 'home' to the Halcyon resort.

Location - Northwest coast just north of Castries and south of Rodney Bay. Approx 10 minute drive to both Sandals La Toc and Grande St Lucian resorts by shuttle. Approx 1.5 hours from UVF airport and 5 minutes from SLU airport.

Atmosphere - Quiet and relaxing. Hear birds and wildlife chirping at night. Smaller, more intimate, and quieter nightlife compared to the both the Sandals La Toc and Grande St Lucian resorts. All age groups well represented but averages slightly higher in age overall.

Layout & design - 169 rooms within a series of 1 and 2-story buildings spread out over lush garden landscaping. Flat land with almost no step climbing with exception of steps up to the 2nd floor units. Polynesian design open air caribbean style lobby area.

Dining
The Halcyon resort features four restaurants:

The Pier Restaurant (Seafood) - signature restaurant featuring fine Caribbean a la carte cuisine on an enclosed 150-foot pier overlooking the ocean. Interior air conditioned seating, no reservations, resort evening attire. Dinner 6:30-9:45pm, closed Mondays.

Mario's Restaurant (Italian) - elegant setting featuring a la carte Northern Italy cuisine with italian music and white glove service. Interior air conditioned seating, no reservations, resort evening attire. Dinner 6:30-9:45pm, closed Fridays.

Bayside Restaurant (International) - Primary restaurant featuring champagne breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffet dining except for special theme nights. Interior open air setting, no reservations. Full breakfast 7:30-10:30am, continental 10:30-11am. Lunch 12:30-2:30pm. Dinner 6:30-9:45pm.

The Beach Bistro - open air beachside grill and bar providing lunch time dishes and late night snacks while overlooking the ocean.

Activities
Halcyon features three pools, the Sunset Pool is the main pool and has a swim-up bar, a second quieter Paradise Pool with swim-up bar located in the rear of the resort, and a scuba training pool. Although the pools at the Grande and La Toc are larger, the Halcyon pools are a very good size and fully up to Sandals standard. The Halcyon beach is an open ocean beach and all standard Sandals watersports are available. While most guests would consider the beaches at the Grande and La Toc superior, the Halcyon's beach compares fairly well and is located in its own attractive tropical setting. Full range of watersports are included although the scuba and snorkeling boats are shared with the Sandals La Toc resort and located at a nearby marina, shuttle provided. Landsports include day/night tennis, air conditioned fitness center, basketball court, pool tables, table tennis, golf at nearby Sandals La Toc, and more. Nightly entertainment including beach parties and various shows are provided but more reserved overall as compared to other Sandals resorts. The Mirage serves as an indoor nightly entertainment center featuring live music and stage performances. Sue's Piano Bar is a piano lounge with a bar, sofa area, and flat screen TV.

Accommodations
Halcyon offers guests value with simple but still elegant accommodations as well as the closest rooms to the beach of the 3 St Lucia resorts. The accommodation buildings are a series of small 1 & 2-story buildings with some constructed with local coral rock. No elevators to 2nd floor and all rooms have an outside entrance and either the ground level patio or 2nd floor balcony. No suites or special amenity rooms available. No whirlpool tubs or double vanity bathrooms. All rooms include Sandals standard accommodation inclusions, WIFI service ($). Most rooms with flat screen cable TV (some rooms still have box TV, see below).

Buildings 13, 14, 15 (Marigot, Ciceron, Soufriere)
Rooms in these sections are all the same internally with the exception of some rooms which have not completed refurbishments to date (furniture and decor updates, flat screen TV, reset air conditioner). All of these building are 1-floor structures and all rooms are walkout rooms with patios. The differences in room categories are based on views and service type (butler, concierge, standard). The beachfront rooms in Buildings 13 & 15 are the closest rooms to the beach among the 3 St Lucia resorts.

Buildings 6, 9, 12 (Canaries, Anse La Raye, Gros Islet)

These buildings are constructed out of local coral rock and the rooms are slightly larger than the rooms in buildings 13, 14, and 15. Each of these buildings are 2-stories with the 1st floor featuring walkout patios and the upper floor featuring balconies. The 2nd floor units are entered through a staircase leading to an exterior hallway. 1st floor units enter the room through the patio. The patios and balconies are considered the most private within the resort. Another characteristic of these buildings is the coverage of foliage and ivy. These buldings are contain the middle tier categories and feature a combination of garden and ocean views. The room interiors are considered inferior to the renovated Paradise Pool buildings but are located closer to the beach and restaurants and have superior patios and balconies.

Buildings 7, 8, 10, 11 (Choiseul, Laborie, Micoud, Dennery)
These 4 buildings located in the quieter Paradise Pool section have all been recently fully renovated. The renovations included increasing the size of the rooms as well as updates to the bathroom fixtures, larger tub, new furnishings, and updated room decor making these rooms the most superior within the resort. These building are all 2-story with walkout patios on the 1st floor and balconies on the 2nd floor. No elevator as all 2nd floor units are accessed through a common staircase and exterior hallway in the rear of the building. Ground floor unit room entrances are through the patio. Although the most superior room interiors, the room patios and balconies are not visually private. In addition, these buildings are the furthest from the beach, restaurants, and the main resort area in general. Sandals places buildings 10 & 11 in a higher room category (GP) compared to 7 & 8 (RP) as they are located closer to the Paradise Pool, beach, and general resort area.
